This would be my last post of 2020 π₯
My blogging career started in February were I made my first post on February 3rd where I began to blog regularly since Mid-March.
This would be my 124th post and I wanted to reflect a bit on my school life, my lockdown life along with my blogging life.
It’s still not 2021 for me and after publishing this post, I am gonna go and watch some 2021 Countdown on YouTube π
The First 3 Months of 2020
My January 1st of 2020 was quite a simple day where the most memorable moment would be finding a peacock when I was walking around in the neighbourhood with my mom.
Here’s the photo below π

Although the first day went quite well, news of the coronavirus began to surge at my school and I began to see it more often.
First, it affected the “Largest Human Migration in the World”βChinese New Year. Then, I remember how students in my school began to panic where one of my friends was wearing a mask in February and was cleaning his desk every period with Kleenex wipes.
The cases grew up to 6 in California were the first reported death happened in the United States. As of today, the death count stands at 1.82M alone in the US!!!
These few months were quite tough for me as I found it hard to get sleep and would spend a lot of nights dozing off in the couch with my chromebook on my lap.
My junior year (11th grade) studies began to get the better of me and I just wanted a break. Who knew my wish would actually come true and would grant me a 6-month break π
SAT
For those who don’t know, SAT is a standardized test that high schoolers have to take in the United States. It’s a major component of college applications and could break or make a decision.
I took my first SAT in August 2019 and didn’t do so well. I kept studying and planned to take it on March 14th.
Everything was going well until a week before my exam. I went on a trip to San Francisco and my friend texted me that SAT was getting cancelled in many countries.
Since US wasn’t on the list, I didn’t really care to bother much.
However, a day before the exam, I decided to take a day off from school (this is something I don’t like to do, but the test was more important at the time) so that I could study for the exam.
After I came back from my Friday Prayer, one of my friends who was also going to take the test in the same center texted me that the test was cancelled.
I was in shock as I spent roughly A YEAR to prepare for this thing. Next day morning, I actually went there and found this π

To keep it short from here, the test kept getting cancelled in the months ahead where colleges came front and made this optional for admissions.
At the end, I never took it a 2nd time…
Birth To My Blogging
I created this blog in January and was slowly working on it during my free time where I made my first post on February 3rd.
Although I was able to blog regularly, the pandemic gave me that opportunity to create this space and a platform where I could communicate with you today.
I spoke more about how this blog started in another post. If you are interested, I linked it down below π

During the morning time, I would spend time on preparing for the college essays I have to write during the year-end (which I just finished day before yesterday)
This same life of blogging everyday from 9pm to 12am went until the end of July.
School Re-Opening
Since I have to apply to college during my senior year, I then began to work on getting my teacher recommendations and to start filling out applications in early August.
When online classes began, things were going quite smoothly in the beginning and I sort of liked my morning routine.
I was able to wake up more late and I could just wear my comfortable clothes. It was so relaxing to sleep during class while turning off my camera.
Although the communication aspect was a lot slower since everything is online, the overall structure was quite pleasing.
My College Applications
The college application process began to intensify during September as my first deadline was in October 1st. It was a Early Action Deadline (just earlier deadline lol) and I wanted to write my best essays as that deadline had tough competition.
After October 1st, I turned my head towards UC Applicationsβan application to apply for a maximum of 9 universities in California.
I had to write 4 essays for that application and the style they expected was quite different. Obviously, I procrastinated a little bit where I had a 1500 Word English Essay due right before this UC Application deadline.
Life was a hurdle that few weeks, but the hard work paid off as everything went quite smoothly.
December came around and all my teachers announced that there would be no semester finals (let’s be honest…students are gonna cheat anyway, so why keep them π )
The semester ended positively with straight A’s and I finished my final two college applications during this winter break!
At the moment, I am spending my last few days of break here and finishing up some school stuff π
So…What About 2021?
Looking towards the future, 2021 is a year that I have eagerly waiting for since the beginning of high school.
It would the year where I would graduate from high school and be the first kid in my family lineage to enter college in the United States π€©
Since US colleges are super expensive, I am planning on spending some time applying for scholarships so that I could earn some free money (it’s not really free cuz I got to write essays π).
I might move into a dorm from this August where I would (for the first time) live far from my parents. I might have to take up more responsibility and change my lifestyle if I decide to do this. My food and exercise routine might change extensively if this happens…
Compared to roughly 17.5 years of my life, I would say that life changes moments are waiting for me in 2021!!!
All I can do is wait and see how this plays out!!!!
If you have any questions/thoughts about my 2020 journey or if you just had something to say, feel free to comment them down in the comment section below and I will get back to you ASAP.
Peace Out!!!

I haven’t given much thought to graduate school so far π€
College in the US is SO expensive. Plus, I have a brother who will also attend college soon. So, it’s a long shot

Hey there!
Firstly want to start of by saying I LOVE your story telling voice. It’s super quirky and matter of fact.
So PROUD of you for getting in a USA college, and staying resilient despite all the changes and cancellations to your study path
wish you all the best with the scholarship applications, and I hope you get to enjoy and prosper at your college! (also – sounds super cool, moving out and having a self growth opportunity).

I am planning to major in civil engineering and thinking of opening up my business in the future where I would renovate houses (flip houses) and might do some research on sustainable approaches to concrete. But, let’s see where life takes me!
Thank You so much for taking the time to read my work π
